Warsaw Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACBBA DEEDFF G

I was in Warsaw when the first bomb fellA
I was in Warsaw when the Terror cameB
Havoc and horror famine fear and flameB
Blasting from loveliness a living hellA
Barring the station towered a sentinelC
Trainward I battled blind escape my aimB
ENGLAND I cried He kindled at the nameB
With lion leap he haled me All was wellA
-
ENGLAND they cried for aid and cried in vainD
Vain was their valour emptily they criedE
Bleeding they saw their Cry crucifiedE
O splendid soldier by the last lone trainD
To day would you flame forth to fray me placeF
Or would you curse and spit into my faceF
-
SeptemberG
