Tourist Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDF GHGHIJIJ KLKLLLLL LMLMNONO

To Italy a random tourA
I took to crown my educationB
Returning relatively poorC
In purse yet rich in conversationB
Old Rome put up a jolly showD
But I am not a classic puristE
Preferring to Mike AngeloD
The slim stems of a lady touristF
-
Venice they say was built on pilesG
I used to muse how did they do itH
I tramped the narrow streets for milesG
Religiously I gondoled through itH
But though to shrines I bowed my headI
My stomach's an aesthetic sinnerJ
For in St Mark's I yawned and saidI
I hope we'll have lasagne for dinnerJ
-
Florence I'll say was mighty swellK
With heaps of statues stark and lustyL
I liked the Pitti Palace wellK
The Offusi I found to fustyL
But though I did the best of itL
My taste I fear is low and nastyL
For in its bars I'd rather sitL
Imbibing cups of sparkling AstiL
-
And so we go a tourist hostL
And pass art treasures little heedingM
While memories that haunt us mostL
Are those of rich and copious feedingM
In sooth I see no need to roamN
Since all I want this side of HadesO
I'll comfortably find at homeN
Just eating drinking and the LadiesO
