The Visionary Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFG HIHIJJ AKAKLL

If fortune had not granted meA
To suck the Muse's teatsB
I think I would have liked to beA
A sweeper of the streetsB
And city gutters glad to groomC
Have heft a bonny broomC
-
There as amid the crass and crushD
The limousines swished byE
I would have leaned upon my brushD
With visionary eyeE
Deeming despite their loud allureF
That I was rich they poorG
-
Aye though in garb terrestrialH
To Heaven I would prayI
And dream with broom celestialH
I swept the Milky WayI
And golden chariots would ringJ
And harps of Heaven singJ
-
And all the strumpets passing meA
And heelers of the WardK
Would glorified Madonnas beA
And angels of the LordK
And all the brats in gutters grimL
Be rosy cherubimL
