The Undying Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DEFFGG HHBBII JJBBKK LLMMNN

She was so wonderful I wonderedA
If wedding me she had not blunderedA
She was so pure so high above meB
I marvelled how she came to love meB
Or did she Well in her own fashionC
Affection pity never passionC
-
I knew I was not worth her loveD
Yet oh how wistfully I stroveE
To be her equal in some wayF
She knew I tried and I would prayF
Some day she'd hold her head in prideG
And stand with praising by my sideG
-
A Weakling I she made me strongH
My finest thoughts to her belongH
Through twenty years she mothered meB
And then one day she smothered meB
With kisses saying wild with joyI
Soon we'll be three let's hope a boyI
-
Too old to bear a child they saidJ
Well they were right for both are deadJ
Ah no not dead she is with meB
And by my side she'll ever beB
Her spirit lingers half divineK
All good I do is hers not mineK
-
God by my works O let me striveL
To keep her gentleness aliveL
Let in my heart her spirit glowM
And by my thoughts for others showM
She is not dead she'll never dieN
While love for humankind have IN
