The Under-dogs Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHIH JKJKLMLM MMMMNMNM

What have we done Oh Lord that weA
Are evil starredB
How have we erred and sinned to beA
So scourged and scarredB
Lash us Oh Lord with scorpion whipsC
We can but runD
But harken to our piteous lipsC
What have we doneD
-
How have we sinned to rouse your wrathE
To earn your scornF
Stony and steep has been our pathE
Since we were bornF
Oh for a sign a hope a wordG
A heaven glanceH
Why is your hand against us LordI
Give us a chanceH
-
What shall we do Oh God to gainJ
Your mercy seatK
Shall we live out our lives in painJ
And dark defeatK
Shall we in servitude bow lowL
Unto the endM
How we would hope could we but knowL
You are our friendM
-
We are the disinheritedM
The doomed the lostM
For breath with dust and ashes fedM
We pay the costM
Dumb mouths Yet though we bleed with prayerN
We kiss the swordM
Aye even dying we forbearN
To curse Thee LordM
