The Silent Ones Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD BEBEFDFD GBGBHDHD

I'm just an ordinary chapA
Who comes home to his teaB
And mostly I don't care a rapA
What people think of meB
I do my job and take my payC
And love of peace expoundD
But as I go my patient wayC
Don't push me roundD
-
Though I respect authorityB
And order never floutE
When Law and Justice disagreeB
You can include me outE
The Welfare State I tolerateF
If it is kept in boundD
But if you wish to rouse my hateF
Just push me roundD
-
And that's the way with lots of usG
We want to feel we're freeB
So labour governments we cussG
And mock at monarchyB
Yea we are men of secret mirthH
And fury seldom soundD
But if you value peace on earthH
Don't push us roundD
