The Robbers Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD EEFFGGAA HHIIADJJ KK

Alas I see that thrushes threeA
Are ravishing my old fig treeA
In whose green shade I smoked my pipeB
And waited for the fruit to ripeB
From green to purple softly swellC
Then drop into my lap to tellC
That it is succulently sweetD
And excellent to eatD
-
And now I see the crimson streakE
The greedy gash of yellow beakE
And look the finches come in throngF
In wavy passage light with songF
Of course I could scare them awayG
But with a shrug 'The heck ' I sayG
I owe them something for their gleeA
So let them have their spreeA
-
For all too soon in icy airH
My fig tree will be bleak and bareH
Until it wake from Winter sleepI
And button buds begin to peepI
Then broad leaves come to shelter meA
In luminous placidityD
Then figs will ripen with a rushJ
And brash will come the thrushJ
-
But what care I though birds destroyK
My fruit they pay me back with joyK
