The Quest Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEEE EEEEEE

I sought Him on the purple seasA
I sought Him on the peaks aflameB
Amid the gloom of giant treesA
And canyons lone I called His nameB
The wasted ways of earth I trodC
In vain In vain I found not GodC
-
I sought Him in the hives of menD
The cities grand the hamlets grayE
The temples old beyond my kenD
The tabernacles of to dayE
All life that is from cloud to clodE
I sought Alas I found not GodE
-
Then after roamings far and wideE
In streets and seas and deserts wildE
I came to stand at last besideE
The death bed of my little childE
Lo as I bent beneath the rodE
I raised my eyes and there was GodE
