The Old Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGDGD HIHJKLKM

Oh bear with me for I am oldA
And count on fingers fiveB
The years this pencil I may holdA
And hope to be aliveB
How sadly soon our dreaming endsC
How brief the sunset glowD
Be kindly to the old my friendsC
You'll miss them when they goD
-
I've seen so many disappearE
That I can scarce forgetF
For death has made them doubly dearE
And ripened my regretF
How wistfully I've wished them backG
With cherishing to showD
The gentleness I used to lackG
In years of long agoD
-
You young and fit will falter tooH
And when Time's load you bearI
'Twill help if others turn to youH
With comforting and carJ
With loving look and tender touchK
Aye in their twilight wanL
Revere the old for Oh how muchK
You'll miss them when they've goneM
