The Old Armchair Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCDEEC FFFGHHHG BBAIJJKI LLLMNNNM

In all the pubs from Troon to AyrA
Grandfather's father would repairB
With Bobby Burns a drouthy pairB
The glass to clinkC
And oftenwhiles when not too fouD
They'd roar a bawdy stave or twoE
From midnight muk to morning dewE
And drink and drinkC
-
And Grandfather with eye aglowF
And proper pride would often showF
An old armchair where long agoF
The Bard would sitG
Reciting there with pawky gleeH
The Lass that Made the Bed for MeH
Or whiles a rhyme about the fleaH
That ne'er was writG
-
Then I would seek the Poet's chairB
And plant my kilted buttocks thereB
And read with joy the Bard of AyrA
In my own tongueI
The Diel the Daisy and the LouseJ
The Hare the Haggis and the MouseJ
What fornication and carouseK
When I was youngI
-
Though Kipling Hardy StevensonL
Have each my admiration wonL
Today my rhyme race almost runL
My fancy turnsM
To him who did Pegasus prodN
For me Bard of my native sodN
The sinner best loved of GodN
Rare Robbie BurnsM
