The Macaronis Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFEF GHGHIFJF KLKLLMLMItalian people peaceful are | A |
Let it be to their credit | B |
They mostly fail to win a war | C |
Oh they themselves have said it | D |
Allergic we to lethal guns | E |
And military might | F |
We love our homes and little ones | E |
And loath to fight | F |
- | |
But Teutons are a warrior race | G |
Who seek the sword to rattle | H |
And in the sun they claim a place | G |
Even at price of battle | H |
The prestige of a uniform | I |
Is sacred in their sight | F |
They deem that they are soldiers born | J |
And might is right | F |
- | |
And so I love Italians though | K |
Their fighting powers are petty | L |
My heart with sympathy doth go | K |
To eaters of spaghetti | L |
And if the choice were left to me | L |
I know beyond a doubt | M |
A hundred times I'd rather be | L |
A Dago than a Kraut | M |
