The Locket Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD EFEBGG HBHBII JKJKLL MNMN OJ

From out her shabby rain coat pocketA
The little Jew girl in the trainB
Produced a dinted silver locketC
With pasted in it portraits twainB
These are my parents sir she saidD
Or were for now I fear they're deadD
-
I know to Belsen they were sentE
I never heard of them againF
So many were like that they wentE
Our woeful quest was all in vainB
I was in London with a friendG
Or I too would have shared their endG
-
They could have got away I'm toldH
And joined me here in MarylebneB
But Grannie was so sick and oldH
They could not leave her there aloneB
When they were seized she cried and criedI
Thank God 'Twas in her bed she diedI
-
How did they die I cannot bearJ
To think of that it crazes meK
My mother was so sweet so fairJ
My father handsome as you seeK
I'm sure no daughter ever hadL
More lovely parents Yes it's sadL
-
But for their loss I shall not grieveM
I'll hug the hope they still surviveN
Oh I must make myself believeM
Somehow somewhere they're still aliveN
-
Well that's my only souvenirO
A locket stained with many a tearJ
