Rhyme Scheme: AAABBB CCCDDD EEEFFF GGHIII JJJKKK LLL MMMM

Miss Rosemary I dourly saidA
Our balance verges on the redA
We must cut down our overheadA
One of the staff will have to goB
There's Mister Jones he's mighty slowB
Although he does his best I knowB
-
A deer old man I like him wellC
But age alas will always tellC
Miss Rosemary please ring the bellC
And tell old Jones to step this wayD
Oh dear oh dear it isn't gayD
To say the things I have to sayD
-
Come in and sit down Mister JonesE
He thanks me in sepulchral tonesE
Poor chap I hear his creaking bonesE
Have a cigar And how's your wifeF
What's that You're fearing for her lifeF
A cancer and the surgeon's knifeF
-
Yes operations are so dearG
But it's your comfort and your cheerG
To know your job's so steady hereH
These are his words so meek and mildI
He looks just like a simple childI
Go darn it Suddenly I'm riledI
-
And so I say That's just too badJ
But Mister Jones it's very sadJ
You know what losses we have hadJ
We must cut down in times like theseK
So here's a cheque Oh take it pleaseK
'Twill help to pay your doctor's feesK
-
And just to show how I appraiseL
Your work despite these doleful daysL
I'm giving you a little raiseL
-
Said Rosemary Old Jones is cryingM
Thought I Yes each week I'll be sighingM
When from my pocket I am pryingM
Ten bucks to keep his wife from dyingM
