The Joy Of Little Things Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDE FGFGCECE HIHIJEJE KFKFLELE MNMNOEOE

It's good the great green earth to roamA
Where sights of awe the soul inspireB
But oh it's best the coming homeA
The crackle of one's own hearth fireC
You've hob nobbed with the solemn PastD
You've seen the pageantry of kingsE
Yet oh how sweet to gain at lastD
The peace and rest of Little ThingsE
-
Perhaps you're counted with the GreatF
You strain and strive with mighty menG
Your hand is on the helm of StateF
Colossus like you stride and thenG
There comes a pause a shining hourC
A dog that leaps a hand that clingsE
O Titan turn from pomp and powerC
Give all your heart to Little ThingsE
-
Go couch you childwise in the grassH
Believing it's some jungle strangeI
Where mighty monsters peer and passH
Where beetles roam and spiders rangeI
'Mid gloom and gleam of leaf and bladeJ
What dragons rasp their painted wingsE
O magic world of shine and shadeJ
O beauty land of Little ThingsE
-
I sometimes wonder after allK
Amid this tangled web of fateF
If what is great may not be smallK
And what is small may not be greatF
So wondering I go my wayL
Yet in my heart contentment singsE
O may I ever see I prayL
God's grace and love in Little ThingsE
-
So give to me I only begM
A little roof to call my ownN
A little cider in the kegM
A little meat upon the boneN
A little garden by the seaO
A little boat that dips and swingsE
Take wealth take fame but leave to meO
O Lord of Life just Little ThingsE
