The Centenarians Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCDEBE FGFGHBH IBIBJKJ ALALMKAK

I asked of ancient gaffers threeA
The way of their ripe livingB
And this is what they told to meA
Without MisgivingB
-
The First 'The why I've lived so longC
To my fond recollectionD
Is that for women wine and songC
I've had a predilectionD
Full many a bawdy stave I've sungE
With wenches of my choosingB
But of the joys that kept me youngE
The best was boozing '-
-
The Second 'I'm a sage reveredF
Because I was a foolG
And with the bourgeon of my beardF
I kept my ardour coolG
On health I have conserved my holdH
By never dissipatingB
And that is why a hundred oldH
I'm celebrating '-
-
The Third 'The explanation II
Have been so long a oldingB
Is that to wash I never tryI
Despite conjugal scoldingB
I hate the sight of soap and soJ
I seldom change my shirtK
Believe me Brother there is noJ
Preservative like dirt '-
-
So there you have the reasons threeA
Why age may you rejoiceL
Booze squalour and temerityA
Well you may take your choiceL
Yet let me say although it mayM
Your egoism hurtK
Of all the three it seems to meA
The best is DIRTK
