The Actor Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJIKLK MNM

Enthusiastic was the crowdA
That hailed him with delightB
The wine was bright the laughter loudA
And glorious the nightB
But when at dawn he drove awayC
With echo of their cheerD
To where his little daughter layC
Then he knew FearD
-
How strangely still the house He creptE
On tip toe to the bedF
And there she lay as if she sleptE
With candles at her headF
Her mother died to give her birthG
An angel child was sheH
To him the dearest one on earthG
How could it beH
-
'O God If she could only live '-
He thought with bitter painI
'How gladly gladly would I giveJ
My glory and my gainI
I have created many a partK
And many a triumph knownL
Yet here is one with breaking heartK
I play alone '-
-
Beside the hush of her his breathM
Came with a sobbing sighN
He babbled 'Sweet you play at deathM
'Tis I who die '-
