And Home Sweet Home's the scene | D |

And take my job to heart | F |
You'll never find me at a loss | G |
So well I play my part | F |
My voice is hard my eye is cold | H |
My mouth is grimly set | I |
They all consider me I'm told | H |
A bloody martinet | H |

But when I reach my home at night | H |
I'm happy as a boy | J |
My kiddies kiss me with delight | H |
And dance a jig of joy | J |
I slip into my oldest cloths | K |
My lines of care uncrease | K |
I mow the lawn unhook the hose | K |
And glow with garden peace | K |

It's then I wonder which I am | L |
the boss with hard boiled eye | M |
Or just the gay don't care a damn | L |
Go lucky garden guy | M |
Am I the starchy front who rants | K |
As round his weight he throws | K |
or just old Pop with patchy pants | K |
Who sings and sniffs a rose | K |
