To heaven from a downy bed | C |
- | |
So prop me up with pillows two | D |
And serve me with the barley brew | D |
And put a pencil in my hand | E |

To ring a rhyme of homely glee | F |
- | |
For since I've loved it oh so long | G |
Let my last labour be in song | G |
And when my pencil falters down | H |
Oh may a final couplet crown | H |
The years of striving I have made | I |
