Rhyme Builder Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEEFF GGHHII JJKKKK

I envy not those gay galootsA
Who count on dying in their bootsA
For that to tell the sober truthB
Sould be the privilege of youthB
But aged bones are better spedC
To heaven from a downy bedC
-
So prop me up with pillows twoD
And serve me with the barley brewD
And put a pencil in my handE
A copy book at my commandE
And let my final effort beF
To ring a rhyme of homely gleeF
-
For since I've loved it oh so longG
Let my last labour be in songG
And when my pencil falters downH
Oh may a final couplet crownH
The years of striving I have madeI
To justify the jinglers tradeI
-
Let me surrender with a rhymeJ
My long and lovely lease of timeJ
Let me be grateful for the giftK
To couple words in lyric liftK
Let me song build with humble hodK
My last brick dedicate to GodK
