Poor Cock Robin Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJIKLILI MNMNIOIP

My garden robin in the SpringA
Was rapturous with gleeB
And followed me with wistful wingA
From pear to apple treeB
His melodies the summer longC
He carolled with delightD
As if he could with jewelled songC
Find favour in my sightD
-
And now that Autumn's in the airE
He's singing singing stillF
And yet somehow I cannot bearE
The frenzy of his billF
The keen wind ruffs his ruddy breastG
As to bare boughs he clingsH
The sun is sullen in the WestG
Yet still he sings and singsH
-
Soon soon the legions of the snowI
Will pitch their tents againJ
And round my window sill I knowI
He'll call for crumbs in veinK
The pulsing passion of his throatL
Has hint of Winter woeI
The piercing sweetness of his noteL
entreats me not to goI
-
In vein in vain Oh valiant oneM
You sing to bid me stayN
For all my life is in the sunM
And I must fly awayN
yet by no gold or orange glowI
Will I be comfortedO
Seeing blood bright in bitter snowI
A robin deadP
