Pilgrims Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBCBC DBDBECEC ECECEFEG AHAHECEC

For oh when the war will be overA
We'll go and we'll look for our deadB
We'll go when the bee's on the cloverA
And the plume of the poppy is redB
We'll go when the year's at its gayestB
When meadows are laughing with flow'rsC
And there where the crosses are greyestB
We'll seek for the cross that is oursC
-
For they cry to us Friends we are lonelyD
A weary the night and the dayB
But come in the blossom time onlyD
Come when our graves will be gayB
When daffodils all are a blowingE
And larks are a thrilling the skiesC
Oh come with the hearts of you glowingE
And the joy of the Spring in your eyesC
-
But never oh never come sighingE
For ours was the Splendid ReleaseC
And oh but 'twas joy in the dyingE
To know we were winning you PeaceC
So come when the valleys are sheeningE
And fledged with the promise of grainF
And here where our graves will be greeningE
Just smile and be happy againG
-
And so when the war will be overA
We'll seek for the Wonderful OneH
And maiden will look for her loverA
And mother will look for her sonH
And there will be end to our grievingE
And gladness will gleam over lossC
As glory beyond all believingE
We point to a name on a crossC
