What odds if you are chaos hurled | C |
Yours is a silly little world ' | D |
- | |
For their derision haply true | E |
I hate the stars as wouldn't you | E |
But whether earth be great or little | A |
I do not care a fishwife's spittle | A |
I do not fret its where or why | F |
Today's a day and I am I | F |
- | |
Serene afar from woe and worry | G |
I tend my vines and do not hurry | G |
I buss the lass and tip the bottle | A |
Fill up the glass and rinse my throttle | A |
Tomorrow though the earth should perish | H |
The lust of life today I cherish | H |
- | |
Ah no the stars I will not curse | I |
Though things are bad they might be worse | I |
So when vast constellations shine | J |
I drink to them in ruby wine | J |
For they themselves although it odd is | K |
Somehow give me a sense that God is | K |
- | |
Because we trust and realise | K |
His love he steers us in the skies | K |
For faith however foolish can | L |
Be mighty helpful to a man | L |
And as I tend my vines so He | G |
With tenderness looks after me | G |
