My Cross Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABACAC DEDEFGFG HIHIJKJK LMNMOEOEI wrote a poem to the moon | A |
But no one noticed it | B |
Although I hoped that late or soon | A |
Someone would praise a bit | B |
Its purity and grace forlone | A |
Its beauty tulip cool | C |
But as my poem died still born | A |
I felt a fool | C |
- | |
I wrote a verse of vulgar trend | D |
Spiced with an oath or two | E |
I tacked a snapper at the end | D |
And called it Dan McGrew | E |
I spouted it to bar room boys | F |
Full fifty years away | G |
Yet still with rude and ribald noise | F |
It lives today | G |
- | |
'Tis bitter truth but there you are | H |
That's how a name is made | I |
Write of a rose a lark a star | H |
You'll never make the grade | I |
But write of gutter and of grime | J |
Of pimp and prostitute | K |
The multitude will read your rhyme | J |
And pay to boot | K |
- | |
So what's the use to burn and bleed | L |
And strive for beauty's sake | M |
No one your poetry will read | N |
Your heart will only break | M |
But set your song in vulgar pitch | O |
If rhyme you will not rue | E |
And make your heroine a bitch | O |
Like Lady Lou | E |
