Mactavish Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD BEBEFDGD CHCHIDID JKLKMDMD NONPNENE

I do not write for love of pelfA
Nor lust for phantom fameB
I do not rhyme to please myselfA
Nor yet to win acclaimB
No strange to say it is my planC
What gifts I have to lavishD
Upon a simple working manC
MACTAVISHD
-
For that's the rather smeary nameB
Of dreary toil a hinterE
That heads the galley proofs that cameB
This morning from my printerE
My patient pencil much they needF
Yet how my eyes they ravishD
As at the top of each I readG
MACTAVISHD
-
Who is the meek and modest manC
Who puffs no doubt a pipeH
And has my manuscript to scanC
And put in magic typeH
Somehow I'm glad that he is notI
Iberian or SlavishD
I hail him as a brother ScotI
MACTAVISHD
-
I do not want to bore him withJ
My work I make it snappyK
For even though his name were SmithL
I'd like him to be happyK
I hope because I'm stumped for rhymeM
He will not think me knavishD
If I should call him just this timeM
MACTAVISHD
-
Forgive me Friend Mactavish IN
No doubt have cost you cursesO
I'm sorry for you as you tryN
To put my type in versesP
And though new names I know you byN
When of new books creatorE
I'll always look on you as myN
