Last Look Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEEFF GGHHII JJKKLL MNOOPPIIWhat would I choose to see when I | A |
To this bright earth shall bid good bye | A |
When fades forever from my sight | B |
The world I've loved with long delight | B |
What would I pray to look on last | C |
When Death shall draw the Curtain fast | C |
- | |
I've loved the farewell of the Sun | D |
Low lapsing after work well done | D |
Or leaping from a sea forlorn | E |
Gold glad to greet a day new born | E |
Shall I elect to round my dream | F |
The Sun I hail as Lord Supreme | F |
- | |
Ah no Of Heaven's shining host | G |
It is the Moon I love the most | G |
And if when I shall cease to be | H |
God lets me keep one memory | H |
Of loveliness that held me thrall | I |
The Moon's the one I would recall | I |
- | |
The new Moon fine as pearly clip | J |
From Cleopatra's finger tip | J |
The ripe Moon vaulting o'er the trees | K |
As ruddy as a Cheddar cheese | K |
The late Moon frail and wanly fair | L |
Relaxed on silver rocking chair | L |
- | |
But most of all the Moon intense | M |
With radiant indifference | N |
So placid glacid pure serene | O |
Of all perfection proudly Queen | O |
Oh Mistress Mine let me adore | P |
Your beauty but one moment more | P |
One last look Let the Curtain fall | I |
Then let me look no more at all | I |
