Jim Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EF EGHIHI JKJKLKLK MGMGKGKG

He was a traveling tinker ladA
And I was a gypsy jadeB
Yet never were two so gay and gladA
And a perfect pair we madeB
Bruises I've known since life beganC
Blows and the love that smothersD
But I'd rather have the curse of my manC
Than the kisses of all othersD
-
When Black Mike called me a lousy bitchE
Jim was so mad like hell 'eF
-
Flammed and Mike lay there in the ditchE
With a jack knife in his bellyG
Then came the cops and they put awayH
My bully behind the barsI
And he'll lose for a score of years they sayH
The light o' the larky starsI
-
And yet in spite o' his dismal doomJ
No garb of woe I'm wearingK
For the seed of him is in my wombJ
And son for him I'm bearingK
And when they swing the prison gateL
And him like blind they're leadingK
His boy and I with bliss will waitL
Although our hearts are bleedingK
-
Then we will take with wildwood trackM
And he'll be wae and wearyG
But when he gets his manhood backM
And beats me I'll be cheeryG
And maybe some fowl's neck I'll wringK
And maybe we'll get tipsyG
So by a thorn fire how we'll singK
What heaven for a gypsyG
