Infirmities Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAABCCDBEEEFGGGF HHHIJJJI EEEEKKKE

Because my teeth are feebly fewA
I cannot bolt my grub like youA
But have to chew and chew and chewA
As you can seeB
Yet every mouthful seems so goodC
I would not haste it if I couldC
And so I salivate my foodD
With ecstasyB
Because my purse is poor in penceE
I spend my dough with common senseE
And live without the least pretenceE
In simple stateF
The things I can't afford to buyG
Might speed the day I have to dieG
So pleased with poverty am IG
And bless my fateF
-
Because my heart is growing tiredH
No more by foolish passion firedH
Nor by ambitious hope inspiredH
As in my youthI
I am content to sit and restJ
And prove the last of life's the bestJ
And ponder with a cheerful zestJ
Some saintly truthI
-
Because I cannot do the thingsE
I used to comfort round me clingsE
And from the moil of market bringsE
Me rich releaseE
So welcome age with tranquil mindK
Even infirmities are kindK
And in our frailing we may findK
Life's crown of peaceE
