I Shall Not Burn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABB CDCDD EFEFF GHGHH IJ

I have done with love and lustA
I reck not for gold or fameB
I await familiar dustA
These frail fingers to reclaimB
Not for me the tiger flameB
-
Not for me the furnace glowC
Rage of fire and ashen doomD
To sweet earth my bones bestowC
Where above a lowly tombD
January roses bloomD
-
Fools and fools and fools are youE
Who your dears to fires confideF
Give to Mother Earth her dueE
Flesh may waste but bone will bideF
Let loved ones lie side by sideF
-
Let God's Acre ever dreamG
Shed your tears and blossoms bringH
On age burnished bone will gleamG
Crucifix and wedding ringH
Graves are for sweet comfortingH
-
Curst be those who my remainsI
Hurl to horror of the flamesJ
