Four-foot Shelf Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDE F G HIJI KLKLMNMN

'Come see ' said he 'my four foot shelfA
A forty volume rowB
And every one I wrote myselfA
But that of course you know 'C
I stared I searched a memory dimD
For though an author tooE
Somehow I'd never heard of himD
None of his books I knewE
-
Said I 'I'd like to borrow oneF
Fond memories to recall '-
Said he 'I'll gladly give you someG
And autograph them all '-
And so a dozen books he broughtH
And signed tome after tomeI
Of course I thanked him quite a lotJ
And took them homeI
-
So now I have to read his workK
Though dry as dust it beL
No portion of it may I shirkK
Lest he should question meL
This tale is true although it looksM
To me a bloody shameN
A guy could father forty booksM
yet no one know his nameN
