Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEEFG HHIIJJ KALLMM KKNNOO PPOOII KKQR

I'll do the old dump in a dayA
He told me in his brittle wayA
Two more I guess I'll give to RomeB
Before I hit the trail for homeB
But while I'm there I kindo' hopeC
To have an audience with the PopeC
-
We stood upon the terraced heightD
With sunny Florence in our sightD
I gazed and gazed too moved to speakE
Until he queried What's that creekE
The Arno sir I said surprisedF
He stared at it with empty eyesG
-
It is said I the storied streamH
Where Dante used to pace and dreamH
And wait for Beatrice to passI
Oh how I felt a silly assI
Explaining this With eyes remoteJ
He asked Was Beatrice a boatJ
-
Then tranced by far FiesoleK
Softly I sought to steal awayA
But his adhesiveness was grimL
I could not pry apart from himL
And so in our hotel ward walkM
Meekly I listened to his talkM
-
Bologna Say the lunch was swellK
Them wops know how to feed you wellK
Verona There I met a blondeN
Oh how that baby could respondN
Siena That's the old burg whereO
We soused on Asti in the squareO
-
Antiquity Why that's the bunkP
Statues and all that mouldy junkP
Will never get you anywhereO
My line is ladies' underwareO
And better than a dozen DantesI
Is something cute in female scantiesI
-
One day in Florence is too smallK
You think maybe to see it allK
Well it don't matter what you've seenQ
The thing is you can say you've beenR
