| When Heaven's harmony you see | A |
| How can you doubt control divine | B |

| Nay Sire said I I do not doubt | C |
| The spheres in cosmic pattern spin | B |
| But what I try to puzzle out | C |
| Is that if Law and Order win | B |
| Where does mere man come in | B |

| If to the millionth of a hair | D |
| Cause and Effect are welded true | E |
| Then there's no leeway anywhere | D |
| And all we do we have to do | E |
| And sun and atom too | E |

| O Stars sing in your harmony | A |
| O Constellations raptly shine | B |
| Flout me because I am not free | A |
| Mock me because no choice is mine | B |
| O Beauty it so hurts to see | A |
