Sweet maiden why disguiseA
The beauty of your eyesA
With glasses blackB
Although I'm well awareC
That you are more than fairC
Allure you lackB
For as I stare at youD
I ask if brown or blueD
Your optics areE
But though I cannot seeF
I'm sure that each must beF
Bright as a starE
-
That may be green or greyG
'Tis very hard to sayG
Or violetH
The lovelight in their glowI
Alas I'll never knowI
To my regretJ
In some rhyme book I've readK
A lady bard has saidK
And deemed it trueD
Men will not bite the necksL
Of sweeties who wear specsL
Young man would youD
-
But though they balk romanceM
Columbus took a chanceM
And so would IN
Even with orbs unseenO
I'd fain make you my queenO
And you en skyN
Alas I see you goI
And I will never knowI
Your pupils tintP
So o'er a lonely drinkQ
I force myself to thinkQ
Damsel you squintP
