Let me suggest that cowardice | C |
Can masquerade as virtue | B |
And many a maid remains a maid | D |
Because she is afraid | D |

He fears the house of sin | F |
And though before the door he pause | E |
He dare not enter in | F |
So worse than being dissolute | D |
At home he plays the flute | D |

Is troubled with the jitters | H |
And being as he's scared to die | G |
Gives up his gin and bitters | H |
While dreading stomach ulcers he | I |
Chucks dinner for high tea | I |

Well we are wise When life begins | J |
To look so dour and dark | K |
'Tis good to jettison our sins | J |
And keep afloat the bark | K |
But don't let us claim lack of vice | A |
For what's plumb cowardice | C |
