| Let me suggest that cowardice | C |
| Can masquerade as virtue | B |
| And many a maid remains a maid | D |
| Because she is afraid | D |

| He fears the house of sin | F |
| And though before the door he pause | E |
| He dare not enter in | F |
| So worse than being dissolute | D |
| At home he plays the flute | D |

| And being as he's scared to die | G |
| Gives up his gin and bitters | H |
| While dreading stomach ulcers he | I |
| Chucks dinner for high tea | I |

| To look so dour and dark | K |
| 'Tis good to jettison our sins | J |
| And keep afloat the bark | K |
| But don't let us claim lack of vice | A |
| For what's plumb cowardice | C |
