Rhyme Scheme: ABABCACA DEDEAFAF GHGIJKLK MIMINANA

Drunk or sober Uncle JimA
Played the boyB
Never glum or sour or grimA
Oozin' joyB
Most folks thought he was no goodC
Blamin' himA
But where kiddies were you couldC
Bank on JimA
-
Sure he allus hated workD
Lovin' playE
Jest a good fer nuthin' jerkD
Lots would sayE
Yet how the children fell for himA
Whooped with gleeF
Guys so popular as JimA
Seldom beF
-
How old songs sweet as a bellG
He would singH
What grand stories he would tellG
Gesturin'I
Elders reckoned him a sotJ
Sighin' sadK
But with tiny toddlers whatL
Sport he hadK
-
Might have had a brood they saidM
Of his ownI
Lost his wife in childbirth bedM
Left him loneI
Well now he is cold an' stillN
Here's to himA
Kids an' mothers always willN
Bless old JimA
