Bird Watcher Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABB CDCDD EFEFF GHIHJJ

In Wall Street once a potent powerA
And now a multi millionaireB
Alone within a shady bowerA
In clothes his valet would not wearB
He watches bird wings bright the airB
-
The man who mighty mergers plannedC
And oil and coal kinglike controlledD
With field glasses in failing handC
Spies downy nestlings five days oldD
With joy he could not buy for goldD
-
Aye even childlike is his gleeE
But how he crisps with hate and dreadF
And shakes a clawlike fist to seeE
A kestrel hover overheadF
Though he would never shoot it deadF
-
Although his cook afar doth forageG
For food to woo his appetiteH
The old man lives on milk and porridgeI
And now it is his last delightH
At eve if one lone linnet lingersJ
To pick crushed almonds from his fingersJ
