Rhyme Scheme: AABCDDEE FFCCGGHH IIJJKKLL MMNNBBOO

The Countess sprawled beside the seaA
As naked a she well could beA
Indeed her only garments wereB
A G string and a brassi egrave reC
Her washerwoman was amazedD
And at the lady gazed and gazedD
From billowy bosom swellE
To navel like a pink sea shellE
-
The Countess has of robes three scoreF
She doffs and leaves them on the floorF
She changes gowns ten times a ayC
Her chambermaid puts them awayC
How funny thinks the washer wifeG
I've toiled and toiled throughout my lifeG
And only have to hide my skinH
This old rag that I'm standing inH
-
The Countess never toiled at allI
She begged for coin when she was smallI
And later in the ancient fashionJ
In gay resorts she peddled passionJ
But now to noble rank arrivedK
Tom wed the old Count she contrivedK
Her youthful lover lounging thereL
Is hirsute as a teddy bearL
-
The Countess will be honoured whenM
She dies past three score years and tenM
The washer women will wear outN
With labour fifty years aboutN
Yet as the two look at each otherB
The Countess thinks So was my motherB
And washer wife to live and dieO
But for God's grace so would be IO
