Amateur Poet Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFGFHIHI JKJKLMLM NONPQCQC

You see that sheaf of slender booksA
Upon the topmost shelfB
At which no browser ever looksA
Because they're by myselfB
They're neatly bound in navy blueC
But no one ever heedsD
Their print is clear and candid tooC
Yet no one ever readsD
-
Poor wistful books How much they costE
To me in time and goldF
I count them now as labour lostG
For none I ever soldF
No copy could I give awayH
For all my friends would shrinkI
And look at me as if to sayH
What waste of printer's inkI
-
And as I gaze at them on highJ
Although my eyes are sadK
I cannot help but breathe a sighJ
To think what joy I hadK
What ecstasy as I would seekL
To make my rhyme come rightM
And find at last the phrase uniqueL
Flash fulgent in my sightM
-
Maybe that rapture was my gainN
Far more than cheap successO
So I'll forget my striving vainN
And blot out bitternessP
Oh records of my radiant youthQ
No broken heart I'll rueC
For all my best of love and truthQ
Is there alive in youC
