Alias Bill Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABACAC ABABDEDF AGAGHIHI JKJKALA F

We bore him to his boneyard lotA
One afternoon at threeB
The clergyman was on the spotA
To earn his modest feeB
We sprinkled on his coffin ldA
The customary loamC
And so old Bill was snugly slidA
To his last homeC
-
A lonesome celebate we thoughtA
For close as clam was heB
We never guessed that he had gotA
A lawful familyB
Till lo we saw a gorgeous wreathD
Reposing on his bierE
With on a scarlet scroll beneathD
To Father DearF
-
He ordered it hisself they saidA
Before he had to goG
His folks don't know that he is deadA
Maybe they'll never knowG
His step was frail his hair was greyH
But though his sight was dimI
He liked to kid hisself that theyH
Still thought of himI
-
Maybe they did we never knewJ
And he would never tellK
Perhaps their hearts were broken tooJ
His was I think Ah wellK
We left him in the boneyard lotA
With none to shed a tearL
And just a wreath the one he boughtA
-
To Father DearF
