A Song Of Suicide Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDDEE FFGGHHII JJKLAAMM NNBBOOPP

Deeming that I were better deadA
How shall I kill myself I saidA
Thus mooning by the river SeineB
I sought extinction without painC
When on a bridge I saw a flashD
Of lingerie and heard a splashD
So as I am a swimmer stoutE
I plunged and pulled the poor wretch outE
-
The female that I saved Ah yesF
To yield the Morgue of one corpse the lessF
Apart from all heroic actionG
Gave me a moral satisfactionG
was she an old and withered hagH
Too tired of life to long to lagH
Ah no she was so young and fairI
I fell in love with her right thereI
-
And when she took me to her atticJ
Her gratitude was most emphaticJ
A sweet and simple girl she provedK
Distraught because the man she lovedL
In battle his life blood had shedA
So I too told her of my deadA
The girl who in a garret greyM
Had coughed and coughed her life awayM
-
Thus as we sought our griefs to smotherN
With kisses we consoled each otherN
And there's the ending of my storyB
It wasn't grim it wasn't goryB
For comforted were hearts forlornO
And from black sorrow joy was bornO
So may our dead dears be forgivingP
And bless the rapture of the livingP
