Voluntary Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCCB DDEFFFE GGHIIIJ FFKLMLK EENIIIN

HERE in the quiet eveA
My thankful eyes receiveA
The quiet lightB
I see the trees stand fairC
Against the faded airC
And star by star prepareC
The perfect nightB
-
And in my bosom loD
Content and quiet growD
Toward perfect peaceE
And now when day is doneF
Brief day of wind and sunF
The pure stars one by oneF
Their troop increaseE
-
Keen pleasure and keen griefG
Give place to great reliefG
Farewell my tearsH
Still sounds toward me floatI
I hear the bird's small noteI
Sheep from the far sheepcoteI
And lowing steersJ
-
For lo the war is doneF
Lo now the battle wonF
The trumpets stillK
The shepherd's slender strainL
The country sounds againM
Awake in wood and plainL
On haugh and hillK
-
Loud wars and loud loves ceaseE
I welcome my releaseE
And hail once moreN
Free foot and way world wideI
And oft at eventideI
Light love to talk besideI
The hostel doorN
