The Land Of Story-books Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH IIJJ KKGG

At evening when the lamp is litA
Around the fire my parents sitA
They sit at home and talk and singB
And do not play at anythingB
-
Now with my little gun I crawlC
All in the dark along the wallC
And follow round the forest trackD
Away behind the sofa backD
-
There in the night where none can spyE
All in my hunter's camp I lieE
And play at books that I have readF
Till it is time to go to bedF
-
These are the hills these are the woodsG
These are my starry solitudesG
And there the river by whose brinkH
The roaring lions come to drinkH
-
I see the others far awayI
As if in firelit camp they layI
And I like to an Indian scoutJ
Around their party prowled aboutJ
-
So when my nurse comes in for meK
Home I return across the seaK
And go to bed with backward looksG
At my dear Land of Story booksG
