The Hayloft Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EBFB GHGH

Through all the pleasant meadow sideA
The grass grew shoulder highB
Till the shining scythes went far and wideA
And cut it down to dryB
-
Those green and sweetly smelling cropsC
They led the waggons homeD
And they piled them here in mountain topsC
For mountaineers to roamD
-
Here is Mount Clear Mount Rusty NailE
Mount Eagle and Mount HighB
The mice that in these mountains dwellF
No happier are than IB
-
Oh what a joy to clamber thereG
Oh what a place for playH
With the sweet the dim the dusty airG
The happy hills of hayH
