God Gave To Me A Child In Part Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EFGG HHGG

GOD gave to me a child in partA
Yet wholly gave the father's heartA
Child of my soul O whither nowB
Unborn unmothered goest thouB
-
You came you went and no man wistC
Hapless my child no breast you kistC
On no dear knees a privileged babbler clombD
Nor knew the kindly feel of homeD
-
My voice may reach you O my dearE
A father's voice perhaps the child may hearF
And pitying you may turn your viewG
On that poor father whom you never knewG
-
Alas alone he sits who thenH
Immortal among mortal menH
Sat hand in hand with love and all day throughG
With your dear mother wondered over youG
