Go, Little Book - The Ancient Phrase Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CDEE FFGG HHIIJJKLM NNNOOPQCC RRSSTT

GO little book the ancient phraseA
And still the daintiest go your waysA
My Otto over sea and landB
Till you shall come to Nelly's handB
-
How shall I your Nelly knowC
By her blue eyes and her black browD
By her fierce and slender lookE
And by her goodness little bookE
-
What shall I say when I come thereF
You shall speak her soft and fairF
See you shall say the love they sendG
To greet their unforgotten friendG
-
Giant Adulpho you shall singH
The next and then the cradled kingH
And the four corners of the roofI
Then kindly bless and to your perch aloofI
Where Balzac all in yellow dressedJ
And the dear Webster of the westJ
Encircle the prepotent throneK
Of Shakespeare and of CalderonL
Shall climb an upstartM
-
There with theseN
You shall give ear to breaking seasN
And windmills turning in the breezeN
A distant undetermined dinO
Without and you shall hear withinO
The blazing and the bickering logsP
The crowing child the yawning dogsQ
And ever agile high and lowC
Our Nelly going to and froC
-
There shall you all silent sitR
Till when perchance the lamp is litR
And the day's labour done she takesS
Poor Otto down and warming for our sakesS
Perchance beholds alive and nearT
Our distant faces reappearT
