Frag2 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGGFFHHTall as a guardsman pale as the east at dawn | A |
Who strides in strange apparel on the lawn | A |
Rails for his breakfast routs his vassals out | B |
Like boys escaped from school with song and shout | B |
Kind and unkind his Maker's final freak | C |
Part we deride the child part dread the antique | C |
See where his gang like frogs among the dew | D |
Crouch at their duty an unquiet crew | D |
Adjust their staring kilts and their swift eyes | E |
Turn still to him who sits to supervise | E |
He in the midst perched on a fallen tree | F |
Eyes them at labour and guitar on knee | F |
Now ministers alarm now scatters joy | G |
Now twangs a halting chord now tweaks a boy | G |
Thorough in all my resolute vizier | F |
Plays both the despot and the volunteer | F |
Exacts with fines obedience to my laws | H |
And for his music too exacts applause | H |
