The Tamarisk Hedge Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMDNOPCQR C| I know that there are slumbrous woods beyond | A |
| On islands of white marges where the tide | B |
| Floods upward blue as a kingfisher's wing | C |
| And sails like wishes of a reverie | D |
| Shine to the wind that fills them far inland | E |
| I know that there are harbours in the hills | F |
| Amid those verdurous smooth bosom folds | G |
| Found by the idle sunbeams for their sleep | H |
| But it contents me to see nothing more | I |
| Than liquid blue of the invisible wind | J |
| Flowing and glowing through the tamarisk | K |
| That waves upon this wild deserted bank | L |
| And I lie warm on the short sandy turf | M |
| Lulled in bright noise of the returning sea | D |
| O plumy Tamarisk tossing your green hair | N |
| In the wind's radient stream as if I had lent | O |
| Your fibres all my senses of delight | P |
| Why does it so enchant me to have nothing | C |
| And drink long draughts of sky where nothing is | Q |
| And tremble to the glory of an hour | R |
| That passes out of nothing into nothing | C |
