Upon M. Ben. Jonson. Epig Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBBBCCDDEEFFBBBBGG

After the rare arch poet Jonson diedA
The sock grew loathsome and the buskin's prideA
Together with the stage's glory stoodB
Each like a poor and pitied widowhoodB
The cirque profan'd was and all postures rack'dB
For men did strut and stride and stare not actB
Then temper flew from words and men did squeakC
Look red and blow and bluster but not speakC
No holy rage or frantic fires did stirD
Or flash about the spacious theatreD
No clap of hands or shout or praise's proofE
Did crack the play house sides or cleave her roofE
Artless the scene was and that monstrous sinF
Of deep and arrant ignorance came inF
Such ignorance as theirs was who once hiss'dB
At thy unequall'd play the AlchemistB
Oh fie upon 'em Lastly too all witB
In utter darkness did and still will sitB
Sleeping the luckless age out till that sheG
Her resurrection has again with theeG
