Glide gentle streams and bearA
Along with you my tearA
To that coy girlB
Who smiles yet slaysC
Me with delaysC
And strings my tears as pearlB
-
See see she's yonder setD
Making a carcanetD
Of maiden flowersC
There there presentD
This orientD
And pendant pearl of oursC
-
Then say I've sent one moreE
Gem to enrich her storeE
And that is allF
Which I can sendD
Or vainly spendD
For tears no more will fallF
-
Nor will I seek supplyG
Of them the spring's once dryG
But I'll deviseC
Among the restD
A way that's bestD
How I may save mine eyesC
-
Yet say should she condemnH
Me to surrender themH
Then say my partD
Must be to weepI
Out them to keepI
A poor yet loving heartD
-
Say too she would have thisC
She shall then my hope isC
That when I'm poorJ
And nothing haveK
To send or saveL
I'm sure she'll ask no moreE
