The Poet's Good Wishes For The Most Hopeful And Handsome Prince, The Duke Of York Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGHBIJKLL

May his pretty dukeship growA
Like t'a rose of JerichoA
Sweeter far than ever yetB
Showers or sunshines could begetB
May the Graces and the HoursC
Strew his hopes and him with flowersC
And so dress him up with loveD
As to be the chick of JoveD
May the thrice three sisters singE
Him the sovereign of their springE
And entitle none to beF
Prince of Helicon but heF
May his soft foot where it treadsG
Gardens thence produce and meadsH
And those meadows full be setB
With the rose and violetI
May his ample name be knownJ
To the last successionK
And his actions high be toldL
Through the world but writ in goldL
