Julia's Churching, Or Purification Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDEFFGHIHJJKK

Put on thy holy filletings and soA
To th' temple with the sober midwife goA
Attended thus in a most solemn wiseB
By those who serve the child bed mysteriesC
Burn first thine incense next whenas thou see'stD
The candid stole thrown o'er the pious priestE
With reverend curtsies come and to him bringF
Thy free and not decurted offeringF
All rites well ended with fair auspice comeG
As to the breaking of a bride cake homeH
Where ceremonious Hymen shall for theeI
Provide a second epithalamyH
She who keeps chastely to her husband's sideJ
Is not for one but every night his brideJ
And stealing still with love and fear to bedK
Brings him not one but many a maidenheadK
