A Dirge Upon The Death Of The Right Valiant Lord, Bernard Stuart. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AB CCDEFF GHIICC JJFKLL CC

Hence hence profane soft silence let us haveA
While we this trental sing about thy graveB
-
Had wolves or tigers seen but theeC
They would have showed civilityC
And in compassion of thy yearsD
Washed those thy purple wounds with tearsE
But since thou'rt slain and in thy fallF
The drooping kingdom suffers allF
-
Chor This we will do we'll daily comeG
And offer tears upon thy tombH
And if that they will not sufficeI
Thou shall have souls for sacrificeI
Sleep in thy peace while we with spice perfume theeC
And cedar wash thee that no times consume theeC
-
Live live thou dost and shall for whyJ
Souls do not with their bodies dieJ
Ignoble offsprings they may fallF
Into the flames of funeralK
Whenas the chosen seed shall springL
Fresh and for ever flourishingL
-
Chor And times to come shall weeping read thy gloryC
Less in these marble stones than in thy storyC
